The Sky in Your Eyes

If I could no longer paint the sky,
if it was only white and gray,
I would paint the colors in your eyes,
their twinkle when you smile at me.
For not even the heavens can compare
to the multiple colors of love I see
sparkling sunshine romantically
dancing on highlights debonair.

Everything I Need

You have everything
I could possibly need
in your pants
pockets, full of
gadgets and tools,
pens, pencils, keys
to all the places
I might need to go.
You are always prepared.
Am I calling
your pockets fat?
No. I’m saying
I like what’s
in your pants.

My Mettle

You give me confidence
to conquer the world.
You are my muse,
my mettle,
the mode
of my variable X.
I can go anywhere (with you),
and do anything (you want).
You make me feel safe.

Just because I am not pestering you
doesn’t mean I don’t need you desperately.
And I’m not going to tell you that
I think about you all the time, that
you are the ghost in my mind that
I talk to all day long.

Deep-burning,Unquenchable Love

Young love is a flame; very pretty, often very hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. The love of the older and disciplined heart is as coals, deep-burning, unquenchable.– Henry Ward Beecher

Infinite Love

“My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
My love as deep; the more I give to thee,
The more I have, for both are infinite.”

How Do I Love Thee? (Sonnet 43)

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

- Elizabeth Barrett Browning

100 Day Painting Project

I did some dirty paint pouring last week,
inspired by the red wine and coffee sitting in front of me,
my freshly painted bright red fingernails, finally dry enough, while
tatting more on the pink and white doily, that is taking too long to make,
contemplating indulging in chocolate cake for lunch, instead of actual healthy food,
and thinking about Valentine's day approaching.

8"x10" and 18"x24" and 12"x36" acrylic on canvas

I am also working on a series of 9"x12" watercolor paintings, painted on top of papers that I first hand write Bible verses all over. I have actually painted 9 of them, but here are the first 6. You can see the other 3 on Instagram or wait until I paint the next 3 and post those 6 here.

I did not, however, finish the 24"x48" piece yet,
but I am having fun working on it and will post it when it is finished.

A hopeless romantic,
is there any such thing?
Aren’t all romantics
full of hope?

Do You Think of Me?

I know that when you go to work you have
things you need to concentrate on,
machines that need your attention,
problems you need to solve,
complicated, all engrossing,
people asking you questions,
phone calls to answer.
Do you ever think of me
between or during things?
You are always on my mind.
I miss you all the time
that we are not together.
